Job description

Job Description:  PART TIME GOLF SHOP ASSISTANT

PAY GROUP: TP 16

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 Assists Golf Course Manager and Golf Pro with daily operation of the golf shop to include retail sales and customer service.  This is a part-time position which normally works less than 20 hours per week on rotating shifts, including regular weekend hours, and is not eligible for City benefits

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Essential Duties*

  • Assists golfers with scheduling tee times, checking in for play, and processing payment through the point-of-sale (POS) system;

  • Monitors and manages course play to ensure proper pace and adherence to tee times;

  • Assists in tournament set up preparation and weekly events;

  • Assists with inventory control of hard and soft goods, including receiving shipments, pricing merchandise, maintaining displays, and processing sales transactions;

  • Assists with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pro shop, including keeping the sales floor and counter areas neat;

  • May assist with golf cart operation and practice facility;

  • Observes safety rules and procedures;

 Other Important Duties*

 Performs such other duties as may be required.

 REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 Knowledge of:  general knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules, golf facility operations and tournament operations.   

 Ability to:  follow written and oral instructions; operate standard computer software i.e. Word, Excel; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees and with the general public; ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; maintain and promote a positive professional image; and maintain Texas driver's license (applicable to job responsibilities) and good driving record.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

High School diploma or equivalent and one year related experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License or reliable alternate means of transportation to and from work.
  • Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) Seller/Server Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
