Summary of Position: The Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement assists the Associate Dean of Student Involvement and the Director of Co-Curricular Programming in supporting Wildcat Welcome Week and Weekend (Fall and Spring new student orientation) and other Student Development/Hub initiatives. This position is expected to have a student-centered mindset, strong relational and communication skills, creative and strategic planning abilities, and strong administrative competency with an understanding of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. This role works closely with the Student Activities Council (SAC), new students, and commuter students, helping to foster a culture of belonging and campus engagement among all students.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing Wildcat Welcome Week (Fall) and Wildcat Welcome Weekend (Spring), through team meetings, promotion, and other tasks
  • Assess the effectiveness of various campus programs, events, and initiatives through feedback and research, and make thoughtful changes accordingly
  • Assist with the recruitment, training, and coordination of student volunteers and leadership, including WU Crew (volunteer welcome team)
  • Support the vision, strategy, and execution of Student Activities Council (SAC) initiatives through event planning, communication, and organizational support
  • Develop and maintain communication and resources that support commuter students and help foster their sense of belonging on campus
  • Assist in cultivating meaningful and creative co-curricular experiences with the Hub and Student Development team that contribute to student belonging and campus culture
  • Assist with event setup, teardown, troubleshooting, and logistical support for Student Involvement initiatives
  • Attend Wildcat Welcome Week coordinating meetings, leadership meetings, individual development meetings, Hub meetings, and collaborative team meetings as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned within the Hub area to provide support for staff and holistic development for students (Potential areas include support with SAC, SGA, Hub events, Wildcat Life emails and app, and more)
  • Supervises: WU Crew (Welcome Team) and select student volunteers connected to Student Involvement initiatives

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Enrollment in a Master's program at a regionally accredited institution
