Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure student immunization records are current and report student immunization status to local and state health departments as required by law.
• Compile, maintain, and file physical and computerized health reports, records, and other required student documents.
• Monitor school health needs and maintain contact with the Central Utah Public Health Department and Utah Department of Health as necessary.
• Assist designated school staff with first aid training and first aid supply checks.
• Coordinate trainings for school district employees as requested by District administration, including CPR, epinephrine administration, food allergy response, AED training, and other health-related trainings.
• Keep school officials informed regarding student health-related successes, needs, challenges, and concerns.
• Serve as a liaison among students, families, school district personnel, physicians, public health agencies, and community partners.
• Coordinate an annual flu shot clinic for school district employees and their families at a central location.
• Coordinate, monitor, and train school district employees on administering medication to students at school.
• Administer medication according to District policy and procedures.
• Coordinate and supervise school screenings, including vision, hearing, scoliosis, and other screenings as assigned.
• Make referrals as necessary based on screening results or student health needs.
• Provide OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen training to school district employees as necessary.
• Collaborate, as requested, in the development and implementation of student Individualized Healthcare Plans, Emergency Action Plans, and health-related Individualized Education Program items.
• Conduct maturation classes for 5th grade students in the District.
• Attend meetings outside typical school hours when required, including faculty meetings, registration, or other assigned meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field required.
Licenses and Certifications
• Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Utah required.
• Current CPR certification required.
Experience
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of state and local laws regarding school health and student health services.
• Ability to implement District policies and procedures.
• Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and confidential student health information.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, school staff, administrators, public health agencies, and community partners.

Millard School District is accepting applications for the position of School Nurse. Under the direction of the District Director, the School Nurse is a registered professional nurse who works in the school setting to support the educational process by improving, protecting, and monitoring the health status of students throughout the District.
The School Nurse serves as a liaison among students, families, school personnel, physicians, community partners, and public health agencies. This position supports school health services, student health documentation, required trainings, medication administration procedures, health screenings, and other student health-related needs. This position is typically, 20 hours/week.
