Job description

The Film Production and Editing Staffsupportsstudent film projects, class productions, live performancerecordingsand other campus initiatives by contributingtoareas such as cinematography, sound recording,lighting,and student mentorship. This position is essential to the success of academic outcomes that offer fully produced film projects and other film-related coursework and campus initiatives. Staff in this role alsoassistin filming and uploading acting classes, ensuring high-quality results and a supportive learning environment

Primary Responsibilities:

Film camera courses, student scenes, and campus performances as assigned

  • Mentor and support Student Worker Camera Assistants
  • Equipment and roomoperationsupport in classroom, performance spaces, and occasional off-site locations, including lighting, projection,soundand any other necessary AV set up and/or filming needs
  • Serve as support for courses, students, and instructors, while working in a collaborative office environment
  • Foster a collaborative, professional environment where students are supported and challenged
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in film/video production
  • Ability to supervise and mentor students on set and in post-production environments
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work variable hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for productions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of professional/educationalfilm or media production experience
  • Experience in camera operation, lighting, sound
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Production Support

  • Serve in active production roles as needed and assigned by the Lead Film & Production Editing Staff Member, including.
  • Camera Operator
  • Location Sound Mixer
  • Boom Operator
  • Lighting and other camera support (changing lenses, batteries, pulling focus, slating takes)
  • Support, advise, and mentor student crews on set
  • Equipment transportation

Position Information:

  • The regular schedule for this role is during the weekday and daytime hours. 20 hours per week. This is subject to change based on department needs.
  • The pay range for this position is $19-$21 hours per week.
  • This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check
