KEY REQUIREMENTS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is primarily sedentary, although some physical effort may be required. Employee may be required to lift moderately heavy items of approximately 20 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. However, work may also be performed in shipping/receiving areas, warehouse environments, and records storage areas. Protective clothing and gear and observance of safety precautions may be required, depending on the type of work performed.
MAJOR DUTIES
  • Oversees a team of employees responsible for the following functional areas: facilities; human resources, evidence, ELSUR, photography, telecommunications, automotive, supplies, records, communications, operations center, safety, communications, and/or training.
  • Implements administrative programs which support the investigative operations of the office and develops administrative guidelines, goals, objectives, and criteria for measuring accomplishments for programs supervised.
  • Develops solutions and work accomplishment plans to meet program goals and objectives; plans for and adjusts work assignments to meet deadlines; and manages work operations to effectively utilize available resources.
  • Provides advice and counsels on employee conduct and other administrative matters.
  • Sets specific goals, objectives, priorities, and deadlines to meet demands.
  • Participates in the decision-making process concerning policy matters for program(s) supervised.

Education

GS-12: Education cannot be substituted at this grade level.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • The FBI is in the Executive Branch of the federal government. It is one of the components of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The FBI is the principle investigative arm of the DOJ. All FBI positions are in the excepted service.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens and consent to a complete background investigation, urinalysis, and polygraph. You must be suitable for Federal employment; as determined by a background investigation.
  • Positions with fitness for duty requirements or those that require international travel may require proof of certain vaccinations.

    The selectee will be required to serve a one-year probationary period for initial assignment to a supervisory position.
  • Required Leadership Training: All FBI supervisors promoted after January 2022 are required to attend and complete the Training Division's Supervisor Essentials Program within 365 days from initial assignment into a supervisory position. Supervisors will need to complete both the "Mentoring and Coaching" and "Performance Appraisals" courses as part of the Supervisor Essentials program. The Supervisor Essentials course is a pre-requisite for the new Leading People (Virtual) and face-to-face version (VLP) that will be offered beginning the 2nd Quarter of 2022
  • If you are selected, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period. Probationary employees are precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until 12-months of their 24-month probationary period has concluded. Probationary Employees may be considered for competitive vacancies that are advertised within their respective division or field office after serving 90 days within the FBI.
  • The probationary periods will be served concurrently.
