Employment Status: 2 Part-time, contract positions

Monday to Friday, hours vary depending on jobs available. This position is overtime eligible and may have on-call responsibilities.

Wage: Entry Level 23 - 26+ per hour

About the Position

ATS Traffic Grande Prairie is recruiting for experienced Traffic Control People (also known as TCP's or Traffic Technicians)! Do you have previous lane closure experience? Have you operated flatbed trucks, trucks with trailers, and TMA's? If so, consider joining ATS Traffic's On-Street Services team as a Traffic Technician!

You will be responsible for conducting traffic control around cities, construction sites and major events such as music festivals or sporting events.

  • Design safe lane closures and traffic detours with physical setup and removal of devices such as barricades, pylons, signage and digital messaging boards.
  • Installation of traffic and construction safety products such as signs, posts, parking curbs, speed bumps, solar beacons, crash systems and guardrails.
  • Flagging as required.
  • General yard organization and maintenance.
  • Assist with shipping and rentals as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A year of previous traffic control experience will be considered an asset, specifically lane closures and takedowns. However, ATS covers the cost and provides ALL training and tickets to get you started.
  • A valid Non-GDL (non-graduated) Class 5 Driver’s License and a Clean 3-Year Regular Drivers Abstract is required to drive our company vehicles.
  • Own vehicle to get to and from work is required as ATS is not located on public transit routes.
  • Skid steer or small equipment experience is an asset.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Experience operating large trucks with flatbed or utility trailers attached.
  • As this is a safety-sensitive role, all candidates must undergo and pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test. Note: All safety-sensitive positions have a zero tolerance policy marijuana, medical or recreational.
  • Ability to lift between 50 and 75 pounds.
  • A valid ACSA TCP Ticket is an asset, however ATS covers the cost and provides ALL training and tickets to get you started!
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): All you need to bring is a pair of CSA Approved Safety Boots on your first day - we will cover the rest.
