Job description

St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, in the heart of growing St. Charles County. At St. Charles Community College, we have a passion for student success. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success in serving diverse student populations.

SCC - Workforce Development department invites qualified candidates to apply for our Part-time Contract Trainer III: Electricity/Electronics position to teach courses in the Electricity and Electronics certificate and degree programs lectures and labs. Courses may be daytime, evening, or Saturday, depending on the need. Part-time appointments are made on a semester-by-semester (as needed) basis.

The ideal candidate(s) will provide instructional classroom and practical hands-on training in the topics below. The candidate will create and deliver training that complies with industry-recognized Electricity and Electronics procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The selected candidate will demonstrate knowledge of current practices in Electricity and Electronics Theory and Electricity and Electronics industry/educational hands-on experience. Will define how to assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree with at least five years of experience, a Journeyman Electrician License, or a certificate in the field of Electricity and/or Electronics
  • One year of instructor/training experience within the last ten years in Electricity and Electronics and/or industry
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electricity/Electrical Engineering and Electronics from an ABET-accredited college, a degree in a closely related field, or a Master Electrician License
  • Knowledge of electrical grids, regulations, power generation, power transmission, and power distribution
  • Graduate Coursework in Electricity/Electrical, Engineering Electronics, Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Three years of instructor/training experience AND three years of industry experience within the last ten years in Electricity/Electrical Engineering and Electronics or a closely related field
  • Experience in an academic setting
  • EIT, PE, CTP, PgMP, CSEP, PLC, SCADA, CEM, CAD, or similar certification(s) preferred
