Job Summary

The Video Production Specialist is a full-time, fiscal year appointment reporting to the AVP of Marketing and Communications. The Video Production Specialist is responsible for producing video and digital content to support the marketing and communications needs of the College. This position requires at least two days of on-site work.

The Video Production Specialist plans, organizes, captures and develops content, and edits the work they produce to communicate and support the strategic priorities of Southwest Tennessee Community College.

Job Duties

  • Coordinates and performs single or multi-camera video capture of projects directly related to marketing and communications-related work; operates and maintains mobile and on-site audio/video equipment
  • Edits content using post-production techniques and specialized hardware and software, digitizes, catalogs, and stores media content
  • Prepares content, including animated graphics and video, for dissemination across a variety of digital formats for client use, including website and social media
  • Proofreading and editing
  • Develops scripts and storyboards for productions with storytelling techniques and creative concepts
  • Creates video content aligned with Southwest priorities
  • Keeps up to date with best practices, trends and emerging technologies
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting or any field
  • Two (2) years of video production experience
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
  • Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity
  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing. Creative mind and storytelling skills
  • Must have a valid State driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting or any field
  • Experience in creating well-structured video files
  • Experience in self-managing projects from initial conception to completion
  • Experience working on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with Blackmagic Cinema and Canon DSLR cameras.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments
  • Multitasking skills for working with many crew members at once
  • Creative thinking with an excellent eye for detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with clients and members of the production team
  • Knowledge of post-production techniques
  • Physical ability to move and hold recording equipment for long periods
  • Understanding of computer software used for planning, editing and scripting

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover events on nights and weekends as needed
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
  • May be required to stand for a prolonged period of time; holding a camera and recording for extended periods.
