Job description

Overview of the Role:
  • Responsible for receipt, accessioning, and processing of tissue and cytology specimens.
  • Works with the histology and cytology lead technologists to maintain appropriate supplies.
  • Coordinates duties with other AP Processing Techs, Cytotechnologists, and Pathologist as needed.
  • Work closely with the Laboratory Medical Director on all aspects of processing anatomic specimens.

Primary Job Duties:
Responsible for the daily operations of anatomic pathology processing:
  • AP order processing and accessioning, including both cytology and tissue specimens.
  • ThinPrep specimen aliquoting and labeling for molecular testing
  • ThinPrep cytology slide preparation and labeling for cytologic examination, including reprocessing as needed.
  • Performs gross descriptions of tissue specimens (small, outpatient biopsy specimens) and appropriately processes these for tissue processing.
  • Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of automated cytology staining equipment and coverslipper.
  • Maintain grossing hood and supplies.
  • Utilizes time effectively through workflow and coordination with other staff to maintain turn-around-time goals.

Education and Experience:
  • Qualify to perform high complexity testing under current CLIA-88 regulations.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology sciences

Must be able to work 6 pm to 10 pm Monday-Friday
Location: The lab is in North Richland Hills
