Position Summary
The Adjunct Remote Aircraft Instructor teaches GST 102: Introduction to Unmanned Aircraft Systems. This course emphasizes comprehension of FAA Part 107 exam material and the development of foundational unmanned aircraft flight skills. Instruction includes both theoretical and hands-on components focused on safe and effective drone operations.
Primary Duties Performed
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and laboratory exercises related to unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
  • Instruct students on FAA Part 107 knowledge areas and assess readiness for the certification exam.
  • Provide hands-on training in safe and effective drone flight operations.
  • Evaluate student learning and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain readiness and operational condition of the drone fleet and related equipment.

Qualifications/Experience
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification.
  • Ability to pass the NIST Level 1 Open Lane Applied Standards Test.
  • Associate degree or higher in a related or broadly applicable field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a field related to Geospatial Technologies or Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience.

Working Conditions
    • Classroom, laboratory, or online instructional environment
    • May require travel between campuses or instructional sites
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Negligible to moderate physical activity, which may include standing for extended periods, light lifting of instructional materials, and use of standard classroom or computer equipment.
