Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, creativity, and leadership skills to oversee kitchen operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality dishes to our guests. This is an exempt position, requiring flexibility in scheduling and a dedication to maintaining culinary standards. This position offers a dynamic and creative environment where you can showcase your culinary skills and contribute to memorable events here at Lonestar Convention Center.
This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00

This position will remain open until July 24, 2026.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and execute menus for weekly parties and concessions in accordance with customer preferences, dietary restrictions, and budget constraints.
  • Coordinate with event organizers to understand their needs and ensure that menu offerings meet their expectations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
  • Order and shop out ingredients and supplies necessary for each event, ensuring that inventory levels are sufficient to meet demand.
  • Manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks as needed to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
  • Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to meet standards of excellence.
  • Assist with menu development, recipe testing, and special event planning as requested.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and strive to exceed customer expectations with every meal served.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Proven experience as a Chef in a professional kitchen setting, with a focus on catering or event services preferred.
  • Culinary degree or certification from an accredited culinary institute preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and flavor profiles.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Creative flair and passion for culinary innovation, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to accommodate event schedules.
  • Valid food handler's permit and knowledge of food safety regulations.
