Position Summary:
Frederick Community College (FCC) is seeking dynamic and knowledgeable adjunct instructors to teach hybrid courses in the information technology and cybersecurity. Candidates must have current and valid certifications in at least two of the following: CompTIA Tech+, A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+, and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). Preference will be given to candidates with CySA+ and CEH certifications.
This position is part-time and requires availability for Saturday sessions and evening classes during the week, with a combination of in-person and online instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
  1. Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in hybrid formats (in-person and online).
  2. Teach courses aligned with industry certifications such as CompTIA and EC-Council.
  3. Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments in accordance with program standards and learning outcomes.
  4. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic progress.
  5. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  6. Collaborate with program staff to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with workforce needs.
  7. Stay current with industry trends, certification updates, and instructional best practices.
  8. Participate in adjunct faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree or minimum four years of additional related experience
  2. Valid and current certifications in at least two to three of the following:
    • CompTIA Tech+
    • CompTIA A+
    • CompTIA Network+
    • CompTIA Security+
    • CompTIA CySA+ (preferred)
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) (preferred)
  3. Prior teaching or training experience, preferably in a community college or adult education setting.
  4. Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
  5. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated subject matter expertise in desired area
  2. Two-year teaching experience with adult learners
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  4. Strong customer service skills
  5. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Blackboard learning management systems
  6. Experience in a higher educational environment
  7. Exposure to current educational practices for student learning
  8. Ability to learn and remain current about Workforce Development
  9. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced atmosphere
  10. Ability to use varying styles, approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multi-cultural workplace
