Responsible for daily front desk operations including but not limited to taking payments, answering phones, responding to citizens' concerns, receiving and recording cash receipts and basic clerical and administrative support to the Finance Division. Responsible for a variety of sales tax accounting activities.

Interfaces with citizens and public daily answering questions pertaining to sales tax licenses, sales tax returns, and general utilities questions. Enters return data into computer system. JOB SUMMARY Able to perform all cashiering duties, including processing payments, answering phone calls, addressing citizens' concerns, recording cash receipts, and providing clerical and administrative support.

Assist with sales tax data entry when required including work in Tyler INCODE. Work to complete zero sales tax returns. Provide businesses with sales and use tax application guidance, obtain additional required information through direct business contact or internal research, and utilize the Department of Revenue (SUTS) system to validate business data and process sales tax returns.

Performs varied administrative work related to the administration of tax and license laws and ordinances. Licenses businesses and follows up on unlicensed businesses. Verifies State address database against city licensed businesses.

Responsible for license renewal reminders and follow-up. Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree or higher preferred, or minimum of high school diploma or general education diploma (GED).

Minimum of two years of related experience in accounting or business operations. Experience with INCODE accounting software preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to organizational accounting systems.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills, along with exceptional organizational abilities and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION Must possess valid driver's license and good driving record. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to reconcile tax returns and accounts. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to query and obtain missing information and verify data.

Ability to address routine questions and processes. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to acquire knowledge of municipal laws and rules and regulations governing the licensing and taxation of local businesses.

Knowledge of principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting. Knowledgeable in MS Office programs including Excel and Word. Ability to learn organization accounting software.

Ability to complete tasks independently under limited supervision. Ability to interface with the public in a professional and tactful manner. MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED General office equipment including computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.
