Job Description Summary:
Position Responsibilities
  • Monitord all ED charges to ensure compliance with Federal and State guidelines, including accurate charge master coding for appropriate billing and reimbursement.
  • Assists with data entry, billing/audit questions, care site inquiries, education, database maintenance and processing of reviews of internal audits.
  • Ensures execution of changes to all related hospital systems and dictionaries impacted by assigned charge processing projects.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Emergency Department, Health Information Management, Budget & Financial Planning, Patient Financial Services operations and Information Systems to coordinate timely work flow of Charge Description Master related functions.
  • Tracks and monitors the status of Charge Description Master projects. Ensures that additions and changes to the Charge Descriptio Master are processed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Reviews reports to identify unnecessary utilization of miscellaneous charge codes. Performs annual maintenance based on the addition and deletion of new codes. Identify and communicate with impacted cost centers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the patient revenue cycle, develop and present recommendations.
  • Remain current with updated coding and billing regulations.
