DEPARTMENT:    Special Events and Finest Collective

REPORTS TO:     Director, Special Event Operations

STATUS:                Part-Time; Non-Exempt

Your role as Sr. Special Events Crew:      

You will be an essential part of the Special Events team, responsible for the execution of all events at Petco Park, EVE, Diamond Room, and all private events at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. Your attention to detail and commitment to creating safe and memorable experiences will make a significant impact on the success of these events.

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:     

  • Exemplifying our Petco Park Promise: CARE, CONNECT, EXCEED by proactively welcoming all guests to the ballpark and consistently striving to exceed all guests’ expectations
  • Conducting merchandise operations and sales to meet the merchandise and other revenue goals
  • Participating in the set-up, execution, and breakdown of various events at Petco Park including but not limited to corporate events, concerts, internal events, and community events
  • Participating in the set-up, execution and breakdown of various events at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, and EVE; sister venues managed by the Padres Special Events team
  • Communication with contracted vendors as necessary, during event set-up and breakdown

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:        

  • Being consistent, punctual, and having reliable attendance
  • Willingness to learn and embrace the fast-paced event environment
  • Maintaining a neat, professional appearance as outlined by the San Diego Padres organization
  • Willingness to obtain certification in specialized roles (ex. Forklift operator)
  • Being bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not necessary

You will be required to meet the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
  • Minimum 1-year previous experience in Events, Business, or Merchandise Operations
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record (subject to review)
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the event venues for prolonged periods of time during events; able to lift and transport up to 35 pounds
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Minimum of (10) shifts per month
  • This is a year-round position with specific requirements for full-venue events. You will be required to make yourself available for at least an 8-hour shift on dates designated as “All Hands-on Deck.” “All Hands-on Deck” dates are events requiring full staffing due to full venue concerts and events.
  • As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check

Salary and Additional Compensation:

Per the California pay transparency law, the pay rate for this position is $22.50 per hour. Part- time non-union employees are subject to the San Diego Hospitality Minimum Wage Ordinance, and rates will increase accordingly.
