Job description

Description:

General Summary: This position is responsible for completing daily tasks related to general operations of the convenience store and gas station as well as providing customer service.

Essential Functions:

  • Greets all customers, providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting care, concern, and patience in all customer interactions including over the phone or gas station pump
  • Assist customers in finding product, securing product, loading or unloading products, etc.
  • Maintain clean and orderly stations both interior and exterior including restrooms, countertops, and floors
  • Receive, verify, and store delivered merchandise in the appropriate storage area
  • Unpack and stocks shelves and coolers with merchandise as directed
  • Cleans but not limited to registers, restrooms, break room; backroom, sweeps and mops the floor, and tends to supply needs
  • Ensures proper maintenance of lot; shovels sidewalk of snow spreads ice melt on ice, hoses down the parking lot, gas pump area and sidewalks
  • Fills outside towel holders, and replenishes or refreshes window washer fluid
  • Removes trash inside and out in a timely manner
  • Assist in training new employees as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

At the Register:

  • Operates lottery ticket registers to verify wins or purchase new
  • Operates cash register accurately and scans product, (where applicable) and reports improper cash levels in the cash drawer
  • Redeems promotional coupons, food stamps, receives cash, checks, completes credit-card charge transactions, in-store charges, and figures discounts, as well as, counts back change and issues receipts
  • Places merchandise in bags or boxes and gives packages to customers

In the Kitchen:

  • Cook food using ovens, stoves, griddles, and microwaves
  • Prepare ingredients ensuring freshness by chopping, peeling, cutting, etc
  • Follow all food health and safety standards
  • Displays food properly and monitors expiration dates and disposes of outdated food
  • Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is always clean and neat
  • Store food properly when not in use

Physical: This position is defined as Medium. Work involves exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally using any combination of body, hands, fingers, arms, legs, and feet to complete tasks. Walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting to a significant degree.
