Part Time Behavior Analysis Professor information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Behavior Analysis Professor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Behavior Analysis Professor, you need advanced knowledge in applied behavior analysis, a relevant graduate degree (often a PhD or Master's), and teaching experience. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), data analysis software, and certifications such as BCBA are typically required. Exceptional communication, mentorship, and organizational skills help build rapport with students and manage course responsibilities effectively. These skills ensure high-quality instruction, student engagement, and adherence to academic and professional standards in the field.

What are the typical expectations for collaboration and mentorship in a part-time Behavior Analysis Professor role?

Part-time Behavior Analysis Professors are often expected to collaborate with full-time faculty on curriculum development and participate in departmental meetings as their schedule allows. While the primary focus is on teaching and supporting students, part-timers may also mentor students on coursework or research projects, typically outside of regular class hours. The level of involvement in mentorship and collaboration can vary by institution, but clear communication with the department chair is key to balancing these responsibilities with other professional commitments.

What are part-time behavior analysis professors?

Part-time behavior analysis professors are educators who teach courses in behavior analysis, typically at colleges or universities, on a part-time basis. They may be responsible for preparing lectures, grading assignments, advising students, and staying current in the field of applied behavior analysis. Their schedules are often flexible, allowing them to balance teaching with other professional or personal commitments. Many part-time professors are also practicing behavior analysts or researchers. These roles are essential in training future behavior analysts and advancing the field through education.

Job description

About Achievement Behavior Services (ABS):

We are an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

Why Us?

  • A competitive hourly starting rate (based on qualifications & credentials, potential starting rates between $22 and $32 per hour)

  • Flexible PART-TIME, consistent weekly schedule: after school & potential for weekends (based on a family's availability & requirements)

  • Work collaboratively with BCBA-level leaders in our ABA Professionals Network

  • Opportunities to pursue further professional credentials: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

  • Personalized Training and Supervision from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Current Opening:

We are currently hiring for a part-time Behavior Technician position to work with a 12-year-old client on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30–6:30 PM. This is a consistent, in-home case with BCBA supervision and support.

In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.

Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:

  • Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings

  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

  • 1:1 goal-oriented, in-home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems

  • Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing

  • Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers

The Qualifications:

  • Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology

  • Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

  • Strong and multi-tiered stakeholder communication skills

  • Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations

  • Professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness

  • Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children

  • Additional evidence of successful work with patients diagnosed with Autism and developmental issues

  • Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State

  • Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches

  • Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals

  • Structured and creative play skills
