Job description

Stantec is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager / Civil Engineer, to provide technical leadership for our clients and staff on a variety of Power sector projects. This position will be part of Stantec's Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address a variety of design projects, including support to public utilities, new electric transmission and rebuild projects, project access road planning and design, civil/environmental substation and battery storage facility design, and solar site/civil/stormwater due diligence and design development. Our staff members have established excellent working relationships with utilities and Power sector developers throughout the mid-Atlantic, and our knowledge and interdisciplinary expertise allow us to help our clients develop the most effective and innovative approaches to their environmental / engineering compliance goals.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Sr. Project Manager or Project Technical Lead for Power Sector engineering projects with responsibility for reviewing and sealing of projects.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the production of project deliverables to ensure on time delivery, technical quality and within budget - includes coordinating work efforts and the preparation of deliverables reports, client stewardship and coordinating on multi-discipline projects.
  • Provide technical leadership for projects in Virginia and occasionally for projects in other parts of the Mid-Atlantic US, performing a variety of tasks to plan, execute and deliver the project.
  • Work with more junior engineers to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, design calculations, write engineering reports, and select design criteria.
  • Project management including coordinating work efforts and the preparation of deliverables reports, client stewardship and coordinating with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  • Execute environmental permitting strategy, developing regulatory strategy, and directing environmental field surveys and construction compliance for a variety of projects.
  • Complete and/or oversee permit application preparation, including gathering supporting documentation, conducting assessments, and coordinating comment response with agencies.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and teams.
  • Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships, including seeking opportunities for new business.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to external and internal client's business needs.
  • Must demonstrate effective resource planning, results delivery, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Proven ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of documents related to requests for proposals and invitations for bid.
  • Thrives in a team environment, mentor to staff, advisor to clients and management team.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (minimum) in Civil, Water Resources, Biological Systems, Environmental Engineering, or other closely related degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years prior experience in a similar role required.
  • Professional Licensure (P.E.) in NC, SC, VA, WV, MD desirable.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
