Sr. Battery Engineer
Location: Remote US. Full-time.
Voltaiq is an Enterprise Battery Intelligence (EBI) software company. Our data platform helps accelerate product development, optimize performance, and streamline manufacturing to enable safety and reliability in battery products. Voltaiq is a USA-based fully-remote company serving customers around the world.
The Role:
The Sr. Battery Engineer is first and foremost a customer-facing battery expert. They are ingrained in the battery industry and use their battery knowledge to work cross-functionally across the entire Voltaiq team. Leveraging their domain expertise, the Senior Battery Engineer deciphers and articulates the requirements of the customer's battery engineers, thereby customizing the Voltaiq product to guarantee a rewarding and beneficial experience for customers.
In this capacity, the role is customer-facing, focused on resolving complex technical challenges while also serving as a strategic subject matter expert in shaping the company's roadmap. The Sr. Battery Engineer is a member of the customer success team, and closely collaborates with Voltaiq's business development, sales, product, and engineering teams. As an application specialist, the Sr. Battery Engineer provides in-depth training, onboarding, and technical support to customers' battery teams. Additionally, the Sr. Battery Engineer attends periodically-scheduled calls and on-site meetings to support, troubleshoot, and grow customer usage of the platform.
The Sr. Battery Engineer is responsible for staying on top of trends across the battery industry, and ensuring the Voltaiq product offering matches and exceeds those trends. Other expectations include generating conference content, thought-leadership content, and presenting at conferences and other industry events. The Sr. Battery Engineer owns technical projects related to organization-wide high impact goals for Voltaiq and product commercialization.
Responsibilities:
  • As the designated subject matter expert, the role adopts a consultative approach with our customers' battery engineering teams, offering insights and recommendations on best practices and optimizations through utilization of the Voltaiq platform.
  • Build and own strong technical relationships with customer engineering teams to become a trusted advisor on battery matters.
  • Meet regularly with our customers to understand their objectives and workflows, and work with the customer in order to achieve those workflows directly in Voltaiq.
  • Deliver engaging and compelling product demonstrations, both in-person and via web conference, to new and existing customers.
  • Onboard and train new and existing customers into the platform.
  • Identify and drive product improvements to increase customer value.
  • Work cross functionally to curate usable demonstration materials and prepare custom demonstrations.
  • Work with the team throughout the sales process to win deals and deliver best practice strategies for implementation on a customer-by-customer basis.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities with customers to expand their usage of the Voltaiq platform.
  • Up to 40% travel required.

Qualifications:
  • PhD in STEM field with battery specific research or STEM B.S. with 3+ years experience in the field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in external customer-facing environments and to audiences of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Superior troubleshooting capability.
  • Battery testing/engineering industry knowledge.
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple incoming requests and drive initiatives to their successful completion.
  • Desire and ability to thrive in a loosely structured, high-demand startup environment.
  • Python coding experience and desire to work with software engineering teams.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
