Description

Join the Sterling Bank team as a part-time Teller - Customer Service Representative in our Clayton, Missouri location!  Standard work hours for full-time will be 40 hours per week, for part-time will be between 20-25 hours per week, Monday through Friday.  No weekends!   

Responsibilities in this role include conducting account transactions efficiently and accurately while providing exceptional customer service.  Operating a cash drawer, safeguarding bank assets assigned, and completing assigned duties in compliance with federal and state regulations as well as bank policies and procedures. Contributing to the growth of the bank by promoting and cross selling bank products and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•    Maintain a positive, friendly and professional attitude and appearance. 
•    Accurately count currency and balance teller drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks. 
•    Maintain appropriate currency logs. 
•    Operate a computer, and any other necessary equipment, programs, and applications. 
•    Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded. 
•    Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information confidential. 
•    Receive and process checking and savings deposits and withdrawals, cash checks: verify cash and proper endorsements, receive and review proper identification, positively identify customers, and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements. 
•    Identify counterfeit currency. 
•    Issue cashier’s checks and process cash advances. 
•    Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receipts. 
•    Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges, account histories, etc. while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies. 
•    Cross-sell bank products and services. 
•    Adhere to bank policies and procedures. 
•    Assists with balancing Vault, ATM, Night Drop, and Coin Machine as assigned. 
•    Assists with proper scanning of bank documents and proof work. 
•    Exercise judgment when applying holds and making check cashing decisions. 
•    Adhere to work schedule. 
•    Any other related duties assigned.
 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•    Excellent customer service skills 
•    Excellent time management and interpersonal skills 
•    Ability to prioritize and use judgement to make on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions, weighing customer satisfaction issues with bank exposure to loss or fraud 
•    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, and perform these skills using money and other forms of measurement 
•    In-depth knowledge of all bank deposit products and policies 
•    Basic 10-key, word processing/typing skills 
•    Ability to operate and use a computer and various equipment, software, and programs 
•    Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time while operating teller equipment 
•    Ability to lift up to 30 pounds 
•    Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization 
•    Complete required annual training on various federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Regulation E and teller roles and responsibilities relating to each act. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:
•    Periodically exposed to such elements as noise, intermittent standing, walking, occasionally pushing, carrying, or lifting. 
•    Semi-repetitive type work which requires periods of concentration for varied time cycles as prescribed by the tasks.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
•    While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously required to talk or hear; regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms; frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
•    High school diploma or GED 
•    One or more years cash handling or sales experience preferred
•    One or more years prior teller experience, or equivalent job experience preferred
