Job description

Evergreen Events is seeking a Part Time Line Cook (Catering) that will provide excellent food preparation and customer service to guests for our Special Events on campus. This position requires an effective communicator who can provide outstanding service to internal and external customers by demonstrating respect, courtesy, reliability and empathy. Essential Duties:

  • Prepares meals by reviewing recipes, assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients.
  • Prepares and controls food usage in order to minimize waste while adhering to all health department guidelines.
  • Performs opening and closing duties as assigned by direct supervisor while maintaining constant kitchen cleanliness and smooth kitchen operations.
  • Assist the Café Supervisor as needed in the production of food for the Milky Way Cafe at the Wings and Waves Waterpark.
  • Ensure all food items are stored safely, properly and dated to health department standards.
  • Prepares and controls food usage in order to minimize waste.
  • Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and fryers to properly cook a variety of foods.
  • Season and cook foods according to recipes or specifications.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Operates dishwashing equipment or hand-washes dishes, utensils, pots, etc. and stores clean items according to department procedures.
  • Responsible for the general cleanliness and upkeep of all kitchens including sweeping and mopping of floors, cleaning of tables and walls, and all culinary equipment. Practices “clean as you go”.
  • Transporting food items and equipment from different locations on campus by either pushing or pulling food cabinets or using a golf cart.
  • Receives and checks in food deliveries and stocks and maintains appropriate levels of food products in all locations ensuring no outages and rotates product using FIFO.
  • Maintains sanitary workstations and handles food in a manner that is consistent with federal, state, and local health department guidelines.
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently according to local health department guidelines.
  • Can organize multiple tasks at once and has a “sense of urgency”.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance. Position may require flexibility in hours and days worked including evenings, nights, weekends and early mornings.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully takes direction from managers and supervisors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Previous Restaurant experience desired.
  • Must be available most weekends/holidays/evenings.
  • Current, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, an OLCC License and Food Handlers Card.
