Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, coordinate and review plant design and piping work on large projects having specialized requirements. You will optimize facility layout based on diagrams, client needs, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements. Your technical input will ensure configuration compliance, procurement requirements are met, and complex issues are resolved.

Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”. #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unit​ or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications​ 
  • Develops and interprets design criteria and specifications for most complex plant design and piping infrastructure in a global business unit​.  
  • Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance​ 
  • Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements​ 
  • Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions​ 
  • Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements​ 
  • Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations​ 
  • Coordinates plant design engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups​ 
  • Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations​ 
  • Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements 
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​
Required Knowledge and Skills:

•    Extensive experience as a design tool administration lead on large scale projects required.
•    Extensive experience implementing, administrating, and helping Computer Aided 3D Design applications e.g., Autodesk BIM 360 and/or Hexagon S3D
•    Experience with Autodesk BIM 360 and/or Hexagon S3D implementing interfaces with peripheral applications
•    Experience with Visual Basic 6, Microsoft .NET, COM/.NET, Microsoft SQL server setup / administration, and Client/Server architecture of Windows.
•    Should be a quick learner and able to adapt to changing priorities.
•    Ability to work under pressure and respond to requests from projects on very short notice
•    Must be willing to travel for business.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Prior consulting experience implementing Autodesk BIM 360 and/or Hexagon S3D and supporting installation, configuration and customization is preferred.
•    Prior work experience and performed CAD support on a medium or major sized project in an engineering discipline at Bechtel.
•    Knowledge of Bechtel Engineering Department Procedures.
•    Experience in coordinating with global execution teams and offices.
•    Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments: Semiconductor, Electric Vehicle, Battery, or Data Center.
