The Opportunity:
Modern data platforms rely on seamless, secure, and scalable data exchange across systems, applications, and mission users. APIs are the backbone of that connectivity-enabling trusted access to data products, supporting system integration, and enforcing governance across the enterprise. That's why we need you.
As a Lead API Developer, you will design and implement the API services that power an enterprise data platform operating in a secure government cloud environment. You'll work closely with data engineers, cloud engineers, security teams, and product owners to build secure, scalable APIs that enable mission systems to ingest, discover, and consume enterprise data.
You'll help architect and develop APIs using MuleSoft and AWS cloud-native services, supporting integrations across multiple mission systems and data sources. Beyond development, you'll help define API standards, enforce governance practices, and ensure the platform can support secure data sharing across the organization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building integration platforms, designing enterprise APIs, and enabling secure system-to-system connectivity in complex cloud environments.

You Have:
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures, and implementing RESTful API best practices, including URL design patterns, request and response data formats, service-level agreements (SLAs), and API security concepts
  • Experience implementing integration patterns, including real-time, near-real-time, batch, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience working with API specifications, such as OpenAPI, Swagger, or RAML
  • Experience developing backend services using Java, Python, or Node.js
  • Experience working with JSON and XML data formats
  • Experience integrating APIs with cloud-native services in AWS environments
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum or SAFe development environments
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • IAT Level II, such as CompTIA Security+, and Computing Environment, such as AWS CCP, Certifications

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java
  • Experience with a public cloud including AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or similar platforms
  • Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code frameworks
  • Experience with data governance frameworks, metadata management, master data management, and enterprise data catalogs
  • Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Exchange Platform
  • Experience implementing APIs supporting data product delivery or analytics services
  • Experience integrating APIs with enterprise data platforms or data lakes

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
