Job description

THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is looking for an Accounting Assistant who enjoys keeping information organized and accurate. This role gives you the chance to support important financial processes that help daily operations run smoothly. This role is a great fit for someone who pays attention to detail and likes working with numbers.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports financial and office operations by preparing documents, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records. You will help keep information organized and ensure daily work follows required guidelines.

As an Accounting Assistant, you will perform the following duties: Document Preparation: Prepare letters, reports, and contracts and review them for accuracy Payroll Support: Assist with daily payroll processing and resolve related issues Payment Processing: Handle utility and service payments and track accounts payable items Account Management: Establish and close encumbrances for maintenance agreements Invoice Review: Run reports and address discrepancies that delay vendor payments Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Rochester.

The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506 (before taxes).
