Medical Assistant Instructor (Part-Time)

Location: Tucson, AZ (Tucson Campus) | On-Site

Type: Part-Time (8–10 Hours per Week), Night Classes

Compensation: $20.80 – $24.96 per hour

Position Summary

Transfer your medical assistant knowledge and clinical skills into an inspiring teaching role at our Tucson campus!

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a Medical Assistant Instructor for night classes. This position offers a part-time schedule of approximately 8 to 10 hours per week, allowing you to guide and mentor the next generation of healthcare professionals while maintaining your day schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Engagement:

  • Lesson Execution: Design and deliver engaging lesson plans in one or more subjects using diverse teaching techniques tailored to adult learning styles.

  • Targeted Learning: Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on student needs and established curriculum standards.

  • Grading & Advising: Evaluate and grade students’ work within 72 hours; maintain regular office hours to advise, mentor, and support students.

  • Student Retention & Alerts: Discuss academic or behavioral issues directly with students; proactively alert the Assistant Dean and Student Services Coordinator when intervention is needed.

Academic & Program Administration:

  • Record Keeping: Complete documentation for individual student files, attendance records, incident reports, early alerts, and other necessary academic forms.

  • Enrichment & Clinical Activities: Arrange guest speakers, community service trips, and visits to local clinics and medical offices. Supervise student externships as assigned.

  • Campus Participation: Participate in faculty meetings, advisory boards, in-service opportunities, graduations, workshops, and student recruitment or registration activities.

  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety, security, and biohazard standards across all learning environments.

Core Competencies & Qualifications

Core Competencies:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Medical Assisting theory, clinical procedures, and back-office skills.

  • Ability to plan appropriate learning experiences, assess student progress, and provide targeted remediation.

  • Role model professionalism and foster an engaging, encouraging learning environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program recognized by the USDE or CHEA (or equivalent job-related training).

  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of full-time occupational experience as a Medical Assistant.

  • Technical Skills: Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), video-conferencing tools, and general digital applications.

Required Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

  • Current, active, unencumbered national registration or certification through an accredited agency (CMA or RMA).

  • Additional credentials as required by local, state, and federal laws.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior classroom, clinical preceptor, or lab teaching experience.
