Job description

The Library at Berklee plays a vital role in student success, creativity, and exploration. Through the Stan Getz Library, the Creative Technology Center (CTC), and the Albert Alphin Library at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, the Library provides welcoming spaces, innovative services, and access to resources that support students' academic and artistic work. Berklee is seeking an After-Hours Facilities Supervisor to help ensure these spaces continue to thrive during evenings and weekends.

Reporting to the Associate Director of User Experience and Operations, this 25-hour, part-time role serves as the senior Library representative after hours. The Supervisor oversees facilities operations, supports and supervises student employees, and ensures smooth opening and closing procedures across three locations on Berklee's Boston campus. This role works closely with daytime professional staff, Public Safety, and students to address operational needs, safety concerns, and service requests in a timely, student-centered way.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and supporting student employees during evening and weekend shifts

  • Overseeing facilities operations and ensuring established procedures are followed

  • Assisting students with library materials, equipment loans, and workstation access using library and CTC systems

  • Monitoring library communication channels and responding to or routing inquiries

  • Coordinating with Public Safety around access, safety, and incident response

  • Supporting library displays, materials binding, and light repairs or maintenance

  • Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and rotating across multiple facilities

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in a user-support or resource-management environment

  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment

  • Comfort working evenings and weekends across multiple campus locations

Experience in an academic library, supervision, music or arts environments, music technology, or A/V support is strongly preferred.

Berklee is a mission-driven, creative, and inclusive community that values innovation, collaboration, and work-life balance. Employees are supported to do meaningful work that centers students, encourages experimentation, and contributes to the future of music and the performing arts. Berklee offers a collaborative culture, professional development opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package. This position is benefits-eligible.
Schedule:

This position is part-time, year-round, and scheduled for 25 hours per week, with a minimum of 21 hours worked on campus and up to 4 hours dedicated to meetings and training, which may include remote (Zoom) meetings. Hours will include evening and weekend work.

Hiring Range: $25 to $32 per hour, dependent on relevant experience and education. Please visit the Total Rewards page to learn more about the benefits of working at Berklee.
