JOB TITLE: Part-Time Physical Therapist (.5 FTE)
LOCATION: TBD
START DATE: Fall 2026
SALARY: Per MEA Master Agreement
DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Physical Therapist to provide evaluation, intervention, and consultation services to students with physical and motor impairments that impact educational performance. The Physical Therapist will collaborate with staff, families, and support personnel to help students access and participate successfully in the school environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Michigan Physical Therapist license
  • Knowledge of physical therapy assessment tools, treatment methods, and best practices within a school setting
  • Understanding of special education laws, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and outside agencies
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports in a timely manner

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Conduct physical therapy evaluations and assessments for referred students
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy goals and intervention plans
  • Provide direct physical therapy services to students as outlined in IEPs
  • Prepare written evaluation reports and maintain required documentation
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and related service providers regarding student needs and progress
  • Recommend adaptive equipment, positioning, mobility supports, and environmental modifications to support student access and participation
  • Attend and participate in METs, IEP meetings, child study meetings, and staff meetings, as requested
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as appropriate
  • Maintain current knowledge of physical therapy practices, research, and educational requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Director of Specialized Student Services

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support students in developing gross motor, mobility, balance, coordination, and functional movement skills related to school participation
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Consult with staff regarding accommodations, mobility needs, and intervention strategies
  • Maintain therapy schedules and service logs
  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and educational committees
