Job description

High Point University is currently seeking a part-time Shuttle Bus Driver. This position safely transports students, staff, faculty and official visitors to and from destinations via various motor vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Must have, or be willing/able to acquire NC CDL driver's license (Class C with P endorsement) within 60 days of hire date

Experience/Training:
  • No experience required, but candidates with backgrounds in driving and/or customer service are desired

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
  • Must have a valid NC driver's license, and a safe driving record. No serious driving convictions within the past three years and no alcohol-related convictions within the past seven years
  • No misdemeanor convictions within the past five years
  • No felonious convictions
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Must have, or be willing/able to acquire NC CDL driver's license within 60 days of hire date
  • Must have basic computer navigation skills (email, internet, MS Office)
  • Be able to walk, stand or sit for extended or intermittent periods of time
  • Remain alert and watchful during assigned duty hours
  • Effectively communicate information orally and provide written trip reports
  • Make visual observations involving color differentiation and accurate estimates of distance entailing depth perception
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment such as radios and telephones, when permitted

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides and maintains an effective and cordial working relationship with students, faculty, administrators, staff and visitors at all times
  • Exercises sound judgment and make thoughtful decisions that directly impact the effectiveness of the Transportation Department
  • Treats all persons with dignity, tolerance and respect regardless of their attitude or demeanor, no matter the circumstances. Keep composure during stressful situations
  • Provides safe and timely transportation service
  • Becomes familiar with event and building locations on campus to direct guests and visitors to the appropriate location
