Our client, a well-established litigation firm in the Hartford, CT area, is seeking a Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join their legal support team. This role blends substantive paralegal work with day-to-day administrative support, making it a great fit for someone early in their legal support career who's looking to grow into a long-term position with a respected firm.

Position Summary
Working under attorney supervision, this person keeps attorneys' billable hours and expenses on track, supports case files and deadlines, and pitches in on discovery and trial prep as needed. It's a well-rounded role for someone who's organized, comfortable wearing multiple hats, and eager to build their legal experience over time.

Responsibilities of the Paralegal/Legal Assistant
  • Track and enter daily billable hours for assigned attorneys and manage their expense reporting, along with other day-to-day administrative support.
  • Organize and maintain case files, client databases, and deadline tracking across active matters.
  • Support discovery tasks such as gathering documents, scheduling depositions, and communicating with clients and opposing counsel as needed.
  • Draft and finalize routine legal documents (notices, affidavits, motions) and assist in preparing trial materials, including exhibits and subpoenas.
  • Provide general office support, serving as a point of contact for supplies, mailing, and vendor needs.

Qualifications of the Paralegal / Legal Assistant
  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred; strong Legal Assistants with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 2-4 years of legal support experience; litigation exposure a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite; familiarity with eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
