SALARY RANGE: 18.27 - 27.40 HOURLY
General Summary:
Generate and submit professional claims to third-party payers and government agencies. Responsible for billing-related functions for Bayhealth claims, whether electronic or hard copy, in compliance with Federal and State regulations and established ANSI standards.
This role supports the revenue cycle accounts receivable team with assigned billing duties, including accounts receivable follow-up, eligibility verification, cash reconciliation, deposits, and correspondence-related activities. This is a key position for supporting work-from-home team members and assisting with daily duties assigned in Epic.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain daily A/R functions and follow up effectively with responsible parties to resolve any outstanding claims issues and obtain payment.
2. Inform the responsible parties of any issues that create a loss of reimbursement, consistent errors, or other issues that create a barrier to accounts receivable resolution.
3. Correct claim errors and billing issues from assigned work queue(s).
4. Verifies insurance eligibility to correct claim errors and/or electronic rejections
5. Handle the cash and check deposits for all BMG office locations and reconcile and confirm all deposits and collection reports. This includes regular communication with office personnel, courier services, and security.
6. Print out all paper claims for the medical centers and hospitals. Also print out all third-party claims with notes/ attachments that correlate with the claims. Send out medical billing statements to lawyers or other parties with a prior HIPAA release form.
7. Fill out paperwork forms for CMS and submit correlating documents.
8. Index correspondence and other documents in Epic utilizing the Galaxy software
9. Alphabetize and scan credentialing documentation into a shared drive for the credentialing team.
10. Open and sort mail.
11. Mail out and document refund checks.
12. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

    Required: Three years of professional billing or collection experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
    Preferred: Four years of professional billing or collection experience, or in a medical office or healthcare setting.
