Position Overview
Sofidel America of Duluth, MN is currently seeking a Manufacturing Converting Engineer. We are searching for a candidate that is local to the area and is looking for a long-term role in a stable environment. Your expertise will make you an important part of our team!
The Manufacturing Converting Engineer will assist operations and be responsible for offering reliable improvements of various production lines.
Job Responsibilities
  • Identify and address improvement areas in manufacturing processes and equipment, including quality improvement, waste reduction, risk reduction, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Evaluate performance of raw materials trails, investigate opportunities for improvements in cost, and lead the modification and installation of equipment.
  • Prepare project justifications, benefit analyses, and facilitate Root Cause Analysis of manufacturing processes and issues with equipment.
  • Develop and design innovative solutions to improve the design of product lines and evaluate technical options for the achievement of business initiatives.
  • Conduct acceptance tests on equipment purchased from vendors.
  • Manage business aspects of converting assets including monthly operational costs, compliance projects, and production performance.
  • Design and draft the layout of equipment, materials, and workspaces to illustrate maximum efficiency using drafting tools.
  • Define process requirements for next-generation equipment through modeling and prototype scale experimentation.
  • Collaborate with product development and operations teams to deliver targeted process capabilities.
  • Lead LOTO job specific process documentation and training.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical is preferred.
  • Experience working in a pulp/paper mill, or with converting equipment, is preferred.
  • Must be able to analyse manufacturing operations and perform capacity analysis to identify obstructions.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to promote a safe working environment.
  • Must have strong technical fundamentals with converting engineering skills.
  • Knowledge in MS Office, ERP, and Manufacturing System is Preferred.
