Job description

Job Title: Learning & Resource Center/Panther Shop Work Study
Location: Ellsworth Community College
Department: Osgood Learning & Resource Center
Reports to: Learning & Resource Center Manager
Semester: Fall 2026
Number of Openings: 1
Rate of Pay: $9.00/hr
Summary: Support the daily operations of the ECC Learning and Resource Center and Panther Shop by providing customer service and assisting patrons with purchases and library materials. Responsibilities include using the POS system for Panther Shop transactions and the Library Management System to check out books, shelving materials, creating displays, and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the library. Student workers also assist with filing, tracking statistics, and reporting concerns to supervisors. Additional duties include completing timesheets accurately and assisting library staff as a backup to the switchboard operator when needed.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Greet and assist library and Panther Shop patrons who want to make purchases using the POS system and Library Management System to check out books.
  • Shelve books and magazines, file, clip newspaper articles, and keep statistics; create displays.
  • Keep the library and its equipment working and clean
  • Report problems in the library to supervisor to manage
  • Dust, clean, and help close the library
  • Complete timesheets accurately and appropriately
  • Use POS system to check out customers who want to make purchases in the Panther Shop.
  • Assist library staff as back up to the switchboard operator.

Abilities: Good people skills and a helpful attitude; strong technology and database research skills and ability to communicate them to others; good organizational skills and take direction; attention to detail and accuracy completing tasks.
Education and Experience: HS Diploma or equivalent
