Job description

Location: New Hyde Park, NY
Schedule: M – F, 7 AM – 3:30 PM
Reports to: Shop Manager

Salary Range: $17 – $21/hour + benefits


Power-Flo Technologies is now hiring a Panel Shop Helper to join our UL Certified Panel Shop in New Hyde Park. You will strive to provide safe electrical systems for a variety of customers.

Panel Shop Helper Responsibilities :

You will assist the technicians and gain experience with the following:

  • Reading and following electrical schematics
  • Laying out panel backplates
  • Wiring panels in the shop based off a schematic
  • Assembling of various electrical components
  • Installing and repairing electrical equipment and fixtures
  • Installing various types of raceway and cable tray systems
  • Troubleshooting motor and control systems
  • Performing routine maintenance on electrical wiring and systems
  • Adhering to all quality and safety codes
  • Installing and repairing electrical equipment and fixtures
  • Building Panels UL 508
  • Panel assembly and box build assembly


Panel Shop Helper Qualifications :

  • Previous experience, training, or schooling in electrical work
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools and other power tools
  • Willingness to learn
  • Current, valid, and clean NYS driver's license to operate company vehicles as needed


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for up to 8 Hours
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • This position may require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and/or reaching
  • You may be exposed to dust, loud noises, and hot and cold conditions
  • Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills may be required for hand tools, power tools, and other machinery
