We are seeking a Saw/Machine operator to join a local manufacturing company in Appleton, WI for a direct hire.


Target Pay: $20-22/HR


Description:


Position Summary: This position is responsible for cutting mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum raw materials as the first step in manufacturing fabricated components for conveyor and related mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate for this position possesses good mechanical aptitude, enthusiasm, and is motivated to get the job done in a fast paced environment. This individual will work closely with the Fabrication Team to produce quality parts from internal engineering drawings and deliver those parts to the next process according to the production schedule and internal routings. PAI emphasizes and coaches a Team approach to problem solving throughout the organization.


Daily activities will involve: - Accurately cutting mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum raw materials such as shafting, tubing, angle, channel and other structural shapes on an industrial band saw per department work instructions, routings and drawings - Safely handling 20-40 ft lengths of steel as individual pieces or in bundles - Safely operating overhead crane and fork truck - Deburring all cut pieces - Acting as backup on other equipment such as brake, shear and ironworker - Other duties as assigned


Basic Requirements: - Basic machine operating skills on manual and semi-automated equipment - Ability to read blue prints and understand tolerances - Mechanical aptitude - Adaptable to fast paced environment - Must be able to read a tape measure, calipers, and other machine tolerance measuring tools - Ability to follow instructions - Ability to work independent or as a team - Capable of using hand and power tools - Able to be on your feet, bend, or occasionally climb short ladder for a minimum of 8 hours a day - Able to lift / move 50 lbs. - Willing to work minimum of 40 hours Preferred Experience: - 1-3 years of experience in a machine shop - Previous experience in conveyor industry
