Position Summary

The Panel Saw Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and routine maintenance of panel saw equipment to support wood cutting operations within the Tops Department. This role ensures that materials are cut accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with production schedules and quality standards.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment while meeting established production rates.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Production

  • Perform basic setup and operate panel saw equipment for wood cutting operations.
  • Cut all materials required for Tops Department production in accordance with routers, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Ensure cut materials meet dimensional accuracy and quality specifications.
  • Produce materials at established production rates while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Material Handling & Workflow Support

  • Move raw materials and cut components within the department using forklifts or other material handling equipment.
  • Handle fragile materials with care to prevent damage.
  • Coordinate material flow to support downstream production operations.

Quality Control & Documentation

  • Inspect raw materials for defects and report quality issues immediately.
  • Maintain accurate records related to cut materials and production output.
  • Follow Storeroom and Storekeeper procedures when required.

Maintenance & Cross-Training

  • Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance of panel saw equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting basic equipment issues.
  • Participate in cross-training on other wood fabrication equipment as business needs arise.
