Position Summary:

Marvin Group is seeking a UL 508A Control Panel Designer to develop industrial control-panel enclosure, layout, and manufacturing-documentation packages. The role owns panel hardware definition and build support while coordinating with manufacturing, qualified panel-shop, and quality personnel. UL listing, certification, and authorization of certification marks remain with qualified organizations and personnel; this role does not perform those functions.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop enclosure and back-panel layouts, including component arrangement, wireways, terminals, operator devices, thermal and spacing considerations, service access, and maintainability
  • Select and integrate panel hardware, including enclosures, disconnects, protection devices, power supplies, terminals, wiring materials, and accessories, against approved requirements
  • Create and maintain schematics, wiring and termination documentation, panel-layout drawings, bills of material, labels, assembly instructions, and revision-controlled build packages
  • Apply design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly practices; coordinate fabrication, workmanship, component traceability, inspection, and compliance reviews with manufacturing, qualified panel-shop, and quality staff
  • Support prototype and production builds, continuity and point-to-point checks, power-up readiness, hardware functional checks, troubleshooting, corrective actions, and engineering changes
  • Define and control hardware interface documentation for PLC, distributed I/O, network, and HMI connections as needed; PLC programming, HMI configuration, and commissioning ownership are outside this role
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors's degree in Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline
  • 4+ years of demonstrated capability developing industrial control-panel enclosures and layouts from requirements through released fabrication and build documentation
  • Proficiency creating electrical schematics, wiring and termination documentation, bills of material, labels, and revision-controlled drawing packages using relevant electrical CAD tools
  • Working knowledge of industrial control components, conductor and terminal practices, overcurrent protection, grounding and bonding, enclosure selection, panel thermal management, and UL 508A-aware design under qualified review
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting qualified panel-shop, ruggedized enclosure, shelter, power-distribution, prototype, or repeatable production builds.
  • Familiarity with short-circuit current rating concepts, component traceability, manufacturing test documentation, supplier coordination, or quality-system corrective actions

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. All applicants must be โ€œU.S. personsโ€ within the meaning of ITAR, as defined: a U.S. Citizen, a lawful permanent resident, political asylee, or refugee.
