Technical Framing Solutions provides specialized drafting services and on-site consulting for wood framing projects. Using the latest industry-specific technology, we deliver clear, easy-to-read wall panel elevations and layouts that help framers work faster and more efficiently. With years of hands-on framing and project management experience, we understand the critical information teams need to ensure successful project execution.


About the Role

Technical Framing Solutions (TFS) is seeking an experienced Wall Panel Designer to join our Design team. This position is primarily responsible for developing accurate, production-ready wood-framed wall panel designs and shop drawings based on architectural and structural plans, specifications, RFIs, and other project documentation.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of wood-frame construction, understands how wall systems interact with structural and building components, and is experienced in translating construction documents into detailed wall panel designs for fabrication and field installation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Create wall panel designs
  • Train and mentor less experienced designers
  • Maintain design standards and processes
  • Provide QC on designed shop drawings 
  • Assist lead designer or design manager in creation of RFI’s, Change Orders, Material Submittals, and Fieldwire Submissions
  • Enter weekly hours worked per job/level in ADP

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience using MiTek Sapphire software.
  • 2+ years framing or wood framed building experience.
  • Experience with CAD and design software.
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Proficient in reading/understanding architectural and structural plans.
  • Knowledge of wood framing, hold downs, and structural components typical in wood framed buildings.
  • Knowledge of plumbing and HVAC requirements as they relate to wood framed walls.
  • Able to assist in production RFI’s and COR’s when necessary.
  • Able to communicate all aspects of design with project team.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Stay organized throughout design with all design related information.
  • Provide Quality Control reviews on other designer’s work.
  • Able to work on multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Able to assist or teach other designers when necessary.

 Additional Position Details

  •  Full-time, exempt position.
  • 40 Hours per week, however, occasional additional hours may be required.
  • Primarily an office position, but occasional travel may be required.
