Job description

Summary of Job Description:

The Executive Director, FSQA is responsible for upholding exceptional food safety and quality standards and providing outstanding technical support to strengthen the Panda brand and enable Operators to achieve their people, guest, and financial goals. This position has overall responsibility for the company’s food safety and quality assurance functions and programs. The Executive Director, FSQA develops a strong team of food safety and quality assurance managers and professionals to provide technical expertise in support of the company’s FSQA program and initiatives. The Executive Director serves as a member of the senior Marketing team and the Enterprise Risk Management Committee.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains an effective and efficient Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) function and program as a key component of the company’s business plan to protect the safety of guests and associates and the integrity of the Panda brand.
  • Serves as a key member of the Enterprise Risk Management Committee, providing technical guidance on managing risk related to food safety and ensuring quality throughout the company’s supply chain, including suppliers, distributors, and Operations. 
  • Responsible for addressing and resolving global food safety and quality assurance issues, advising leadership on any food safety risks identified by the FSQA team and appropriate measures to be implemented to mitigate the risks and maintain consistent food quality in support of the company’s mission of providing exceptional dining experiences to guests. 
  • Directs and develops a team of food safety and quality assurance managers and professionals to provide technical expertise in support of the company’s FSQA programs and initiatives. Selects, coaches, and provides performance feedback to FSQA associates to build an exceptional team. 
  • Develops relationship with supply chain partners to ensure they understand and are familiar with the Panda culture, concept, and food safety and quality assurance standards. Visits and audits the supply chain partners for compliance with FSQA standards. Coaches and enrolls them in Panda standards for safety and quality.  
  • Works with regulatory agencies to ensure that Panda FSQA programs and standards meet or exceed regulatory requirements. Oversees food recalls or withdrawals where safety or quality standards have not been achieved.
  • Develops the systems, tools, and training to ensure effective execution of FSQA standards and processes across the supply chain. Ensures that food product specifications are up-to-date for all products and that testing standards and quality assurance checklists are in place. Oversees development of the FSQA manual that sets supply chain requirements and establishes a detailed product monitoring process, including supply chain and store food safety audits. 
  • Stays current on FSQA research and trends and implements the most advanced and rigorous approaches and tools to support achieving the highest standards of FSQA.
  • Communicates to company senior leadership concerning any identified risks and serves as the company’s spokesperson in the event of a food safety or quality issues or crisis.

Your background and experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Public Health, Biology, Chemistry or related field required; advanced degree in food or nutritional science required
  • 12+ years of experience in FSQA in a restaurant or food processing environment, with increasing management responsibility
  • Successful completion of initial and periodically required trainings.
  • Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position.


Pay Range: M5: $205,000 - $288,000 / Annual

* Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.
