Description

Sales & Paint Technicians work with builders, remodelers, painters, and homeowners to assist in selecting the best products for their needs. Through expert sales and service, they build long-standing customer relationships while actively developing new prospects.

PAINT & SALES OPERATIONS

  • Assist customers with paint and sundry product selection, offering expert color consultation and custom color matching for paint and stain products.
  • Fill paint orders, troubleshoot issues, and make product recommendations.
  • Process quick sale, will-call, and delivery tickets accurately, ensuring all necessary customer and product information is included.
  • Maintain and fill tint dispensers as needed.
  • Stock incoming merchandise in the correct locations with updated bin tags, ensuring shelves are organized and properly faced.
  • Handle customer returns, inspecting products, issuing credit notes, and ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Provide timely quotes and updates to customers, as required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & TEAM COLLABORATION

  • Answer phone calls promptly to maintain high service levels.
  • Direct and lead customers through the store to specific areas.
  • Actively participate in the sales process, sharing product knowledge and best practices to support team and departmental goals.
  • Maintain a high energy level while balancing workloads and prioritizing walk-in customers and phone calls.
  • Direct customer complaints to management, professionally communicating all pertinent details.
  • Promote new products and provide input on dead stock to improve inventory.

STORE & EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the store, performing shelf management and down-stocking from storage locations.
  • Stay informed on sales, promotions, events, and product specials.
  • Assist with inventory preparation and ensure accurate stock counts.
  • Maintain stock of color chips and order sales aids as needed.
  • Operate a forklift (if certified) to assist with inventory or customer needs.
  • Perform additional duties as workload and business needs dictate.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly (e.g., 5-gallon paint pails).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position, including paint mixing, shaking, and product knowledge.
  • Proficient computer skills relevant to the role.
  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully with a motivated and flexible attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
