Job description

American Traveler is seeking an RN-PACU for an ambulatory surgery setting requiring an active NY RN license and at least 1 year of Ambulatory PACU experience.
Job Details
• Work in an Ambulatory/Outpatient Phase I PACU unit,
• Day shift schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (5x7.5 hours, 37.5 hrs/week),
• No weekend shifts required,
• Uses Epic EMR for documentation,
• No on-call responsibilities,
Job Requirements
• Active New York State RN license required,
• BLS and ACLS certifications required,
• Minimum 1 year of Ambulatory PACU experience required,
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management,
• Experience with hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia protocols and insulin administration,
• IV insertion and maintenance experience,
• Experience with endoscopic, laparoscopic, and urology surgical cases,
• Experience administering emergency medications, narcotics/opioids, and reversal agents,
• Experience recovering patients from local, MAC, spinal, and nerve block anesthesia, including post-epidural management,
• Experience performing pre-op assessments, patient education, medication reconciliation, and obtaining consents/EKGs,
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE, malignant hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment, and RASS,
• COVID vaccination required with no exceptions,
• Epic charting experience preferred but not required,
Additional Information
• Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care in an ambulatory PACU setting,
• Perform pre-op assessments, education, medication administration, and reconciliation,
• Obtain operative/procedural consents and 12-lead EKGs,
• Manage recovery for patients receiving various anesthesia types including MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks,
• Provide pre/post endoscopy and pre/post operative care with discharge instructions,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate,
• Returning staff must wait 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler,
• Free parking provided in an employee garage, with street parking also available,
• RTO limited to 5 days or less, with no time off permitted during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
