  • Responsibilities:
  • Follow and support all Company safety, GMP
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies
  • Completes daily safety checklists and attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Knows and ensures that all safety checks are made before putting equipment inline.
  • Monitors employee safety, work habits, and PPE use and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Knows the Company's quality vision policy and helps to achieve it.
  • Monitors multiple lines while ensuring high standard of output and quality.
  • Maintains quality standards according to specifications and tolerances.
  • Directs packers, Machine Operators and Senior Team Leaders to perform quality inspections.
  • Trained in QAN Root cause/Corrective Action.
  • Maintains correct and proper paperwork.
  • Have a working knowledge of JDE/WebEFF
  • Able to run travelers and schedules out of the JDE system.
  • Knowledge of scanning product into JDE correctly.
  • Maintains production requirements including scrap rates, production rates, line speeds, blends, and weight tolerances.
  • Maintain the pounds per man hour goal by managing team effectively
  • Able to start machines up and make change overs. (Set gussets, thread equipment and make changes to downstream equipment)
  • Maximize equipment efficiencies to meet current MEEF, EFF and YIELD goals.
  • Use knowledge of resins, additives, concentrates, etc. to adjust to changing manufacturing conditions and maximize efficiencies.
  • Get approval for changes to any resin blend changes over 10% in difference from the traveler.
  • Responsible for planning, assigning and directing work to maintain production goals of pounds per man hour.
  • Input downtime and production into the computer for entire shift-Maintain Packing Summary Sheet
  • Prepare work area for relief shift to ensure a successful start
  • Adjust equipment to maximize production, box erectors, tapers, and labeler.
  • Know pallet stacking formations for all orders
  • Ensuring at all pallets are properly labeled and tagged
  • Management of bins-keep bin area organized
  • Maintains housekeeping in areas at all times to 6-S standards.
  • Helps to train employees in job duties from current position to entry level position.
  • Assist maintenance with repairs and equipment reliability. Performs routine equipment repairs.
  • Make minor repairs on equipment and aid in trouble shooting with maintenance technicians.
  • Writes maintenance requests when equipment repairs are beyond training.
  • Completes fork lift inspection before using fork lift at the beginning of each shift.
  • Move packaging materials to the lines as needed or requested.
  • Insures that boxed resins, fillers, or concentrates are staged at lines.
  • Inspects all pallets for accuracy in regards to weight and correct stacking configuration
  • Informs Senior Team Leader of weight variances in finished product.
  • Weighs scrap boxes at the end of each shift or when full and records net pounds.
  • Input downtime and production into the computer for entire shift when working in the Pack Area - Maintain Packing Summary Sheet.
  • Responsible for inspecting trash containers for recyclables before dumping.
  • Return all materials to proper location when changeovers are completed.
  • Check fuel level in fork truck before the end of shift.
  • Participate on teams for quality improvement, cost savings, productivity and safety.
  • Is a team player and exhibits the Gung Ho attitude.
  • All other duties as assigned, including perform job duties from current position to entry level positions.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in a team-work oriented environment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of extrusion/converting equipment and process desired.
  • Must pass fork lift and electric pallet jack training.
  • Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, simple checklists, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and in small group settings.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent.
  • Reasoning skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
