Job description

Packing Clerk

The Packing Clerk plays a crucial support role in ensuring the efficient movement of orders within the packing area. This individual is responsible for overseeing, prioritizing, and troubleshooting issues related to orders in the pack room. By managing processes and coordinating with various teams, the Packing Clerk ensures that orders are packed and shipped in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs) and best-in-class practices, particularly for small parcel shipments.

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Prioritize orders based on required ship dates and urgency. This is done by ensuring efficient processing by monitoring old or delayed orders in the pack room. This will include but is not limited to monitoring Home Depot orders, Next Day Air orders and orders past the required shipping date.

Monitor the floor for pallets of material that need research. This includes but is not limited to Small Parcel incomplete, flex, canceled, partially filled orders with tracking, putaways and Small Parcel consolidation staging.

Act as a liaison between the Resolution and Order Orchestration teams to facilitate smooth workflow and communication. This will be done by communicating issues as they arise to ensure orders are handled properly and to help improve our order accuracy.

Identify and troubleshoot any discrepancies or challenges within the packing process, and escalating issues when necessary. This includes but is not limited to incorrect packing methods, LPN issues, missing material, etc.

Systemically closing truck loads when needed.

Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Excel and Word for reporting and tracking purposes.

Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, supervisors, and other departments to streamline order processing.

Ensure that all processes align with operational best practices and contribute to overall efficiency.

Work under high-pressure conditions while maintaining accuracy and organization.

Assist in continuous improvement efforts by identifying areas for increased efficiency in the pack room.

Basic knowledge of Warehouse organization procedures.

Good hand-eye coordination and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Able to work in a collaborative team environment.

Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.

Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.

Able to lift and move heavy merchandise items.

Flexible schedule, including the ability to work on weekends, as needed.
