Description Oversees, directs, and performs a wide range of complex pump, mechanical and electrical work in the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of equipment, peripheral components, and wastewater collection systems. Has responsibility for overseeing the construction and maintenance projects requiring a high degree of skill within assigned Division. Areas of work include the repair of pumping equipment and the electrical components to control the functions of division equipment, including but not limited to, controls, circuits, PLC's, SCADA, pumps, gearboxes, and various rotating equipment.

Employee must exercise considerable initiative, critical thinking skills and independent planning in accomplishing the established tasks. Work is performed independently, but under the guidance and direction of the Wastewater Collection Supervisor. Examples of Duties Assists with the supervision, coordination, monitoring, and reviewing the work of employees within the division.

Discusses job requirements with and receives detailed instruction from Supervisor. Works closely with division Supervisor and others to ensure that equipment is working and maintained properly. Responsible for accurately evaluating and inspecting work in progress and completed projects to ensure work performed adheres to established City standards and specifications.

Ensures codes, regulations, and legal guidelines where applicable, with regards to construction, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry are followed. Accurately maintains time and material records; prepares daily work reports and maintenance logs. Makes and adjusts work assignments based on division needs, priorities, and emergencies occur.

Responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of PLCs and SCADA/Telemetry to ensure proper operating conditions. Responsible for the programming of PLCs and SCADA/telemetry equipment. Responsible for performing complex installations and maintenance services to electrical and pumping equipment, motors and control panels; lubricates motors and equipment, replaces packing in pumps and valves, replaces wiring and bearings in motors and pumps.

Responsible for troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing and replacing complex pumping systems and peripheral components, including but not limited to, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, pumps, gearboxes, various rotating equipment, panels, controls, and switches. Responsible for conducting electrical, mechanical and physical tests of equipment to ensure normal and safe operation. Ensures that all machinery used in the repair and maintenance of pumps and motors are operated safely and in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

Trains and instructs employees in the safe and accurate operation and repair of equipment within the division. Interacts with general public, utility customers and city staff in a professional and courteous manner. Subject to overtime work and responds to job-related emergency calls as needed.

Performs other duties as required by the Supervisor. Education and Experience High school diploma required. Must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience in utilities or related pumping systems, motors and electrical equipment repair and installation.

Requires class "C' wastewater collection certification or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire. Must be in good physical condition. Must have basic computer skills, intermediate preferred.

Must be able to accurately read and interpret blueprints. Driver's License Requirement: Valid Florida Driver's License Classification B. Tanker endorsement preferred.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.

The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
