Product Specialist, Postpress Commercial & Packaging Solutions

General Description

The Product Specialist, Postpress Solutions is responsible for driving and supporting the sales, application, and business development efforts for Heidelberg's Postpress portfolio across both Commercial Print and Packaging markets. This role serves as the technical and product expert for customers and the sales team, helping identify opportunities, develop solutions, and support successful equipment installations.

The Product Specialist works closely with Account Managers, Regional Vice Presidents, Product Management and Service teams to drive revenue growth, increase market share, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities and Duties

Sales & Business Development

  • Prospect alone, or with the local Account Manager to identify customer opportunities and support equipment sales.
  • Conduct customer visits to evaluate production processes and recommend Heidelberg solutions to improve the customer's productivity.
  • Meet annual sales goals and market growth initiatives.
  • Prepare and present proposals, presentations, and support customer negotiations.
  • Maintain the customer database and continually monitor for accuracy

Product & Technical Support

  • Be the Product expert for Heidelberg's Commercial and Packaging Postpress portfolio in the region.
  • Provide technical consultation throughout the sales cycle.
  • Support equipment demonstrations, installations, commissioning, and production start-up activities.
  • Work closely with Service and Operations teams to ensure successful project execution.

Customer Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Participate in trade shows, open houses, customer events, and industry meetings.
  • Gather market intelligence and competitive information.
  • Communicate customer feedback and market trends to Sales and Product Management.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Graphic Communications, or related field preferred.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in printing, packaging, postpress equipment sales, applications, or technical support.
  • Strong understanding of print finishing, converting, cutting, folding, binding, and packaging workflows.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 70%).

Work Environment

  • Home office and customer-site based role.
  • Frequent travel throughout assigned territory.
  • Regular interaction with customers, sales teams, service teams, and industry partners.
