Job description

The Machine Operator position is responsible for blasting and prepping transformer units for paint. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies are essential functions of this role. The hours for this role are Monday-Friday 6:00AM to 2:30PM.

Review checklist and follow work order instructions to ensure compliance with specifications

Assess and identify units for defects prior to blasting, escalate defect issues to lead or supervisor if discovered

Setting up and operating blasting machines, including adjusting pressure, abrasive flow, and nozzle settings to achieve the desired finish on various materials.

Masking sensitive areas of parts to protect them from the blast, properly positioning and securing items within the blast booth.

Load and replenish materials into the blasting machine hopper.

Inspecting blasted surfaces to ensure thorough cleaning and compliance with specifications, identifying and reporting any defects.

Performing routine maintenance checks on blasting equipment, cleaning the blast chamber and associated components, and reporting any malfunctions.

Transporting transformer units to their assigned area in the paint department by utilizing material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.)

Following all safety protocols which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), respirator, glove, safety glasses, etc.

Maintain safe, clean and orderly workstation and area.

Other duties assigned as needed.
