Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Kitting Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of automated packaging machinery used in the kitting process. This role ensures a continuous and efficient production cycle, maintaining product quality and minimizing downtime.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate and monitor kitting and packaging machinery to ensure consistent, high-quality production.
  • Perform machine setup and changeovers between shifts and product batches.
  • Load raw materials into packaging machines, baggers, and label printers.
  • Calibrate and clean machines to prepare for production cycles.
  • Control and adjust machine settings, including speed and labeling functions.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to verify product quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or quality-related issues during production.
  • Conduct routine spot checks on output to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Remove empty totes, packaging waste, and cardboard from the work cell as needed.
  • Accurately document approved and defective units and maintain production activity logs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.


EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing.
  • At least 1 year of experience operating machinery in a production or warehouse setting.
  • Forklift experience required; must pass forklift training and maintain certification.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, following standardized work and safety practices.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting instructions, work orders, and procedure manuals.
  • Capable of understanding and applying written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot using standard procedures.
  • Solid math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Physically capable of lifting 40–50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or walk on concrete flooring for the duration of the shift.
  • Comfortable working in environments with fluctuating temperatures.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Hourly Pay: $21/hr

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, skills, work experience and certifications. You may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive bonus. An incentive bonus, if any, depends on various factors such as organizational performance.
