Overview

THE ROLE: 

This exciting and dynamic position will support growth, innovation and sustainability within a global consumer product company. Job duties for the position are broad, spanning NPD, Innovation and Sustainability while working closely with cross functional teams to ensure successful project launch. There will be a strong focus on re-branding, updates to packaging labels, components and artwork. Additionally, you will be involved in communication with Packaging Suppliers, Herbalife Manufacturing and Contract Manufacturers on numerous aspects of projects and packaging.Candidate must fully support the company's mandate to present a consistent outward facing image of a premium nutraceutical brand on all development and ongoing packaging activities. Critical to this role is a strong attention to detail throughout the development and commercialization process as well as keeping current the specification system for BOM's, drawing and other essential documentation.

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:     Assist in Herbalife global rebranding and packaging modernization initiatives by designing, testing, validating and assisting in launching new package and products.    Give input regarding innovative design and materials for both primary and secondary components resulting in industry leading packaging and sustainability    Maintain project timelines, tasks, and costs to ensure on-time, on-cost launches of new products    Assist in all aspects of component specification development, BOM creation and document retention for packaging materials across all Herbalife systems    Work closely with manufacturing locations, both internally and externally, on trial runs, pilots, 1st production and other development activities to test, validate and launch packaging    Compile samples, quotes and specifications as required on both primary and secondary packaging components    Assist with sustainability projects to improve packaging materials for regulatory compliance    Conduct packaging component/material tests, completes test protocols and leads plant trials at Torrance Packaging Laboratory, Lake Forest, Winston-Salem and Contract Manufacturer facilities.    Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:     Minimum 4 - 7 years' experience in Packaging Engineering with increasing responsibility    Experience in New Product Development, Innovation and product launches within a consumer good, food or dietary supplement company    Knowledge of plastics (rigid & flexible), corrugated, labels and paperboard along with their respective manufacturing processes    Understanding of sustainability in packaging     Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills with an ability to handle multiple projects in parallel

Education    Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering from a recognized program    Open - Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field with practical experience in the packaging industry
