Job Description
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Transportation, Division Manager, or designee, the Dispatcher and Supervisor performs road supervisor and/or dispatcher duties. Supervision encompasses all field operations including:
  1. Investigating accidents and passenger incidents and assisting with vehicle breakdowns.
  2. Monitoring the performance of Bus Operators to ensure that fixed route service is provided and that Bus Operators perform in accordance with Pace standards.
  3. Performing field supervision of Pace fixed route service, special events, and other activities; and performing security checks at transit centers and park-n-rides.

Dispatch functions include:
  1. IBS supervision and coordination of bus routes and Bus Operators.
  2. Maintaining work assignment board on a daily basis.
  3. Operating and monitoring radio and IBS; responding to calls.
  4. Coordinating detours and notifying proper authorities in emergencies, breakdowns, or upon Bus Operator's request.
  5. Operating a bus when required.
  6. Generating and maintaining dispatch paperwork.
  7. Answering telephone calls and responding to inquiries.
  8. Performing other duties as assigned or required.

The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week. This is a safety sensitive position and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Qualifications
Age:
21+
Education:
Must have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalency.
Experience:
Must have at least 3 years' experience in transportation with a good work record, including attendance history; supervisory experience is preferred.
Certifications:
Must have or be able to obtain (within 6 months of being hired) a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with air brake and passenger endorsements, and have, or obtain (within 6 months of being hired) a DOT card.
Proficiencies:
Must have knowledge of the service area, particularly routes that originate from this facility.
Must demonstrate intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must possess and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills: good written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to maintain professional composure when confronted with difficult situations; and make quick and accurate decisions.
Must be able to handle confidential and/or sensitive information in a professional manner.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires sitting for extended periods, typing on a computer, and attending meetings.
Working Conditions:
This position is based on an office setting, with standard office equipment, including a computer, phone, and desk space.
The business needs of Pace may require operating a bus in all weather conditions and being exposed to inclement weather.
This position is not eligible for a hybrid work schedule or remote work.
Salary:
Full Salary Range: $50,467-106,032
Midpoint: $78,250
Starting Salary Range: $64,358-78,250
