Experienced Commercial Front Load & Roll Off Waste Supervisors - We Want to Talk to You....We are specifically looking for someone who understands that Commercial waste operations are about much more than getting trucks out of the yard. You need to know how to lead drivers, manage routes, solve service problems, take care of customers, protect valuable contracts, and run an efficient operation.
The Experience We're Looking For
Our strongest candidates will have hands-on experience managing Front Load and/or Roll-Off operations within the waste and recycling industry. You should understand:

• Front Load and/or Roll-Off route operations
• Commercial waste and recycling customers
• Driver supervision and accountability
• Routing, productivity and service efficiency
• Customer complaints and service recovery
• Commercial account and contract retention
• DOT and operational safety requirements
• Fleet and equipment coordination
• Labor management and route coverage
• Coaching, training and developing drivers

Commercial driving experience is a plus, but this is first and foremost an operations leadership position. We need someone who knows how to manage the business, not simply operate the truck.

What You'll Do
As a Commercial Route Supervisor, you will oversee the safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of contracted services to Waste Pro's commercial customers.

• Directly supervise Commercial drivers and daily route operations.
• Meet with drivers at the beginning and end of their routes and communicate service, safety and equipment priorities.
• Ensure required pre-trip and post-trip inspections are properly completed.
• Monitor routes, productivity, yardage, tonnage, hauls and labor utilization.
• Identify underperforming routes and make routing adjustments to improve productivity and control labor costs.
• Route new service starts and coordinate container delivery, service schedules and removals.
• Follow routes in the field to evaluate service quality, safety and productivity.
• Respond to customer complaints, service issues and special service requirements.
• Work directly with customers and drivers to resolve service problems before they become lost business.
• Address overloaded containers, service changes and contract concerns, involving Sales when appropriate.
• Work with municipal and governmental customers when necessary to ensure timely service.
• Conduct route observations and coach drivers on safety, customer service, route cleanliness and truck appearance.
• Identify driver training and performance-development needs.
• Monitor driver attendance, route sheets, disposal tickets and DOT Hours of Service compliance.
• Coordinate truck repair and maintenance issues with the shop to minimize operational downtime.
• Assist with accident investigations, workers' compensation matters and property-damage reporting.
• Train and orient new employees.
• Conduct performance evaluations and address attendance, performance and disciplinary issues.
• Reinforce Waste Pro safety practices and assist with weekly safety meetings.
• Ensure equipment and Front Load containers are maintained to Waste Pro standards.
• Drive or assist with routes when necessary to cover operational shortages or support drivers who fall behind schedule.

What You'll Need

• Waste, recycling or commercial hauling experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience with Front Load and/or Roll-Off operations.
• 3-5 years of experience in waste, transportation, logistics, operations or related management; commercial waste experience is highly preferred.
• Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience coaching and managing drivers or field employees.
• Strong understanding of routing, productivity and daily field operations.
• Proven customer-service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to professionally manage customer complaints and protect customer relationships.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, ANSI and applicable federal, state and local regulations.
• Knowledge of Smith System and/or Decision Driving principles preferred.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions and resolve operational problems.
• Ability to maintain a positive, professional approach with employees and customers.
• Valid Class A or B CDL or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire, with a driving record meeting Waste Pro and insurance requirements.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends when necessary, and respond to operational issues by phone as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of first-aid techniques is preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is not a desk-only supervisor position. Much of your day will be spent outside in the field working directly with drivers and monitoring Commercial operations.
The position requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors for most of the workday. Employees may be exposed to dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes and other conditions normally associated with waste and recycling operations.
The position may require physical effort, including handling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Requires a High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the transportation, management, logistics or waste industry; or Associate's Degree or minimum of 2 years experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations in which coaching, routing assessments and supervising employees are requirements of the role.
* Knowledge and prior application of Smith System and/or Decision Driving principles and techniques.
* Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications.
* Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
* Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ANSI and other related federal, state & local regulations.
* Valid class A or B commercial driver's license (or ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire) with a personal and business driving record that meets Waste Pro standards and insurance requirements.
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
* Proven customer service skills.
* Must be able to work independently make decisions and resolve problems.
* Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and be available to address operational issues by phone at all times.
* Ability to maintain and portray a positive attitude towards staff and customers.
* Knowledge of first aid techniques preferred.
