Manufacturing Quality Specialist (Consumer Products)

Brooklyn, NY

$90K – $120K (DOE)

Position Overview

A growing consumer products company is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Quality Specialist to oversee product quality throughout the production lifecycle of their small kitchen appliances. This role partners closely with R&D and manufacturing teams, as well as overseas factories, to ensure products meet safety, compliance, and performance standards before reaching the end consumer.

This is a physical product quality role focused on manufacturing — not software QA.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in quality control within consumer goods manufacturing

  • Comfortable working with overseas factories (Asia-based preferred)

  • Strong focus on product safety, testing, and compliance

  • Experience collaborating with R&D / product development teams

  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and takes ownership of quality outcomes

  • Flexible and responsive to cross-time-zone communication needs

  • Background in electronics, appliances, or similar consumer products — strong plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality control across production and manufacturing runs

  • Act as a key liaison between R&D teams and overseas manufacturing partners

  • Inspect materials, components, and finished goods for defects

  • Ensure product specifications are accurately executed from development through production

  • Develop and enforce quality standards, testing protocols, and procedures

  • Identify issues early and drive corrective actions with factories/vendors

  • Ensure all products meet regulatory and safety standards prior to distribution

  • Maintain reporting on quality performance, testing, and defect tracking

Qualifications & Must-Haves

  • 4–8+ years of quality control experience in consumer products

  • MUST have experience with physical goods manufacturing (non-software)

  • Experience working directly with factories / overseas manufacturers

  • Strong understanding of product testing, safety, and compliance

  • Ability to interpret product specs and technical requirements

  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to align with overseas production teams

  • Experience with electronics or appliance-related products — preferred
