Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Long Term Acute Care Stepdown Unit position requiring prior travel experience and hands-on experience with respiratory and ventilator-dependent patients.

Details
  • Position is based in a Respiratory Stepdown Unit (SDU) within a long term acute care hospital setting
  • Primary patient population consists of respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patients in a medical (non-traditional Med/Surg) environment
  • Night shift: 12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Patient ratios: Days/Evenings 1:9, Nights 1:12
  • Every other weekend is required
  • Travelers are floated first to like units, which may include: Respiratory Care Unit (D/E 1:9, N 1:12), MRU/CMU Medically Complex Rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring (D/E 1:7, N 1:9), TRU for TBI and medically complex chronic care (D/E 1:7–1:10, N 1:12), and a satellite campus covering medical, rehab, and respiratory (ratios 1:5–1:8)
  • Float RNs will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless placed in a pedi-specific unit
  • Respiratory Stepdown Unit has 38 beds; Respiratory Care Unit has 36 beds
Requirements
  • Active CT or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with respiratory and/or ventilator-dependent patients strongly preferred
Additional Information
  • Responsibilities include IV starts, drip management, blood administration, EKGs, medication titration, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, Foley care, port access, central line dressing changes, and wound measurements
  • Respiratory therapists (RTs) manage ventilators — RNs are not responsible for vent management
  • 13-week assignment
